Burleighs Gin maker dismisses administration claim

The producer of Burleighs London Dry Gin, 45 West Distillers, has refuted a report that the company is going into administration, confirming it is “business as usual” for the distillery.

The Business Desk reported online that 45 West Distillers, located in Nanpantan, Leicestershire had entered administration earlier this morning. The story has since been deleted.

In a statement to The Spirits Business, 45 West Distillers said the report was “unfounded”, and at the same time announced a new deal with London-based distributor Spirit Cartel.

The statement reads: “This morning 45 West Distillers Ltd and Burleighs Gin were victims of a fake news report. Incorrect information surfaced online reporting the artisan gin had been forced into administration.

“The report is simply unfounded and it is business as usual at 45 West, with an exciting new distribution deal in place with the Spirit Cartel and a fresh batch of Burleighs Gin being distilled today.”

The Business Desk has since printed a correction statement, as follows: “Earlier today, we reported that Burleighs London Dry Gin had gone into administration. We now understand this is not the case, that Burleighs London Dry Gin remains a successfuly trading company has no connection with Triangle Bar Leicester, and we apologise for any confusion caused.”

Founded in 2014, The Burleighs London Dry Gin series comprises three expressions: Signature, Export Strength, and Distillers Cut.

The range is made on-site in a 450-litre copper pot still named Messy Bessy. The distillery also houses a gin school, offering distilling lessons led by master distiller Jamie Baxter.
