Alan Glynn from 37 Dawson Street in Dublin has been crowned the 2017 Shortcross Gin Signature Serve winner, as 22 of Ireland’s best bartenders assembled at Rademon Estate, Downpatrick to battle it out at the second-ever Shortcross Gin Signature Serve competition. Glynn will return to the distillery later this summer to start work on his prize of distilling his very own batch of gin with head distiller David Boyd-Armstrong.

Tito’s International is celebrating the 4th of July by partnering with US embassies and on-trade customers around the world for themed festivities where Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails will be served. The company is also releasing limited edition red, white and blue burlap bags for the premium Texan vodka, paying homage to the American flag, in the travel retail channel in honour of the country’s Independence Day.

The Jam Tree Clapham is celebrating rum in all its varieties at the opening weekend of Rum Festival which is taking place throughout July. The Jam Tree Clapham and The Jam Tree Chelsea has invited guests to sample dishes from the BBQ menu, sip on Rum Fest cocktails, and move to the pounding beats of Tony Charles’s steel drum band.

On Monday, London’s Groucho Club held the launch of Tom of Finland Organic Vodka, a new expression inspired by Finnish artist Tom of Finland and his influence on late 20th century gay culture. A biographical film about him was released earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival and will be coming to the UK in July – with the trailer being shown at the launch event.

Chase Distillery’s GB Tour of the UK came to a close at the newly opened Pizza Pilgrims in West Quay last Saturday. In honour of the tour, Pizza Pilgrims created a pizza with potato, lemon, rosemary and garlic, and served South Coasts – a mix of Chase GB gin; Pococello, a limoncello made from Amalfi lemons; sugar; lemon and mint leaves as well as Chase GB gin and tonics.
Weekly sessions drinking Magaritas while doing yoga are happening every Wednesday (7pm-8pm) and Sunday (12:15-1:15pm) at The Prince in Stoke Newington. Imported from New Mexico, the concept behind Yogaritas is centred around music and yoga moves to make you work for the delicious cocktail. Stillhouse Spirits Co has appointed rapper and producer G-Eazy to the role of partner and co‑creative director alongside CEO and founder Brad Beckerman. G-Eazy will help to open the Louisiana market, which is home to the musician’s alma mater.

London Heathrow Airport has created an exclusive range of G&T-bags using botanicals inspired by three of the airport’s top 10 destinations. The G&T-bags have been produced as part of the UK’s biggest international airport’s eight-week-long Gin Festival. Infused with dry blended botanicals and herbs, each pyramid-shaped silk pouch infuses in a gin and tonic to give an “enhanced flavour experience”. The G&T-bags are available as a gift with the purchase of every bottle of gin over £29 in participating World Duty Free stores at Heathrow.

Maker’s Mark is celebrating the work of world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly with the unveiling of Chihuly at Maker’s. Inspired by the distillery’s Burke House Welcome Centre and campus grounds, Chihuly at Maker’s is a temporary, site-specific exhibition and the second installation commissioned for Maker’s Mark by Chihuly. His first celebrated permanent installation, The Spirit of the Maker, was unveiled in 2014 as a tribute to Maker’s tradition of Bourbon making in Kentucky.

Cyril Camus, president of the Cognac house Camus was voted Top Family Business Leader at the 6th European Families in Business Awards, organised by Campden FB in association with Société Générale Private Banking. Set in the 16th century Lobkowicz Palace, in Prague, Czech Republic, 31 finalists were chosen from a shortlist of 200 nominees.

On Tuesday SB‘s editor Kristiane Sherry and news, web and social editor Annie Hayes, braved the London rain to head down to The Rosewood to experience the hotel’s summer-long GQ pop-up bar. Open until September, the open-air GQ Bar is billed as the first of its kind for the men’s magazine brand. The activity follows similar activity from sister title Vogue, which marked Condé Nast International Restaurants’ first venture in Western Europe when Vogue Café opened in London in 2016. We enjoyed scrumptious small plates, delectable wine and gorgeous cocktails in the elegant courtyard setting.
