Pernod Ricard’s Smithworks Vodka expands US distribution

French drinks group Pernod Ricard is to expand distribution for its “local pride” American Heartland vodka brand Smithworks into Pennsylvania.

Launched in 2016, Smithworks is made from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma corn, and water from Lake Fort Smith in Arkansas.

It is distilled three times and charcoal filtered for a “smooth taste and clean finish”.

The brand’s name and its tractor logo symbolise the “hardworking values” of the production team, and the “local pride, simplicity and hard work” values of America’s heartland, Pernod Ricard says.

Country music artist Blake Shelton was involved in Smithworks’ development, and continues to back the brand today.

“We are thrilled with the success Smithworks has seen over the last year and look forward to a continuation of that by bringing the spirit of the Heartland to new markets,” said Troy Gorczyca, Smithworks brand director.

“As a key member of the Smithworks family, Blake Shelton has played an integral part in the development of the brand. We are proud to have him by our side as the award-winning spirit continues to grow and expand.”

Shelton added: “I’m proud to be a part of the award-winning Smithworks family and excited to bring the American made vodka to the Keystone state.

“Over the last year, I’ve enjoyed helping Smithworks grow, bringing its passion and values of the Heartland to new places throughout the country.”

Smithworks Vodka will be available in select cities throughout Pennsylvania from early July, and in the Greater Philadelphia area by the end of summer.

The brand has a suggested retail price of US$19.99 for a 750ml bottle, and is currently available in states including Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee.

Other available formats include 50ml, 1l and 1.75l bottles.
