Heinemann launches Copper Dog whisky in TR
By Kristiane SherryThe Craigellachie Hotel’s blended malt Scotch whisky brand Copper Dog has made its travel retail debut at Copenhagen Airport with Gebr. Heinemann.
A blend of eight Speyside single malts vatted together for six months, Copper Dog is named after the hotel’s pub. ‘Copper dog’ also refers to the dipper device distillery workers historically used to use to smuggle Scotch out of the warehouse to take home.
The whisky is described as “full of flavour and life” with given nosing and tasting notes of toffee apple, ripe orchard fruits, berries, sweet wood and creamy vanilla fudge.
Gebr. Heinemann has launched the brand into travel retail and duty free through a Copper Dog Bar at Copenhagen Airport.
The large promotional area will feature the brand’s background story alongside sampling activity. A ‘copper dog’ whisky dipper will be given away free with each purchase.
“We are pleased to be the first partner to launch Copper Dog whisky in travel retail,” said Rüdiger Stelkens, Heineman’s director of purchasing for liquor, tobacco, confectionery and fine food.
“We always strive to be first to offer our customers superior shopping experiences and premium, travel retail exclusive products.”
Piers Adam, creator of Copper Dog, added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Heinemann to launch Copper Dog.
“They are such a reputable family run business with a globally renowned reputation and we feel incredibly proud to have them by our side.”
Earlier this year Heinemann and Copenhagen Airports agreed an early extension to their concession agreement, adding another five years to the deal originally set to expire in March 2018.
