Lakes Distillery’s Explorer gin joins stable

Cumbria’s The Lakes Distillery has added The Lakes Gin Explorer Edition to its permanent spirits portfolio off the back of a £140,000 sales boost during summer 2016.

The Lakes Distillery has added The Lakes Gin Explorer Edition to its permanent spirits portfolio

Made using Cumbrian juniper, the gin contains 15 botanicals in total – six of which are native to the Lake District National Park – and is made with water sourced from the nearby River Derwent.

“The tasting notes for our super-premium edition will delight,” said The Lakes Distillery’s master blender Dhavall Gandhi.

“On the nose is a combination of zesty orange citrus, coriander and cassia bark followed by hints of earl grey tea and cracked black pepper. The palate is almost herbal and complex with vibrant notes of juniper, spice and coriander. Black pepper dominates and leads to a long peppery finish.”

The liquid is presented in a matte cornflower blue bottle featuring laser-etched botanicals. Just 3632 bottles have been initially produced in a single batch distillation.

“We’re really thrilled to announce the relaunch of our Explorer Edition gin,” said Paul Currie, managing director of The Lakes Distillery. “We don’t rest on our laurels and we continue to keep enriching our portfolio with fascinating, imaginative expressions.

“The demand and rave reviews we received secured The Lakes Gin Explorer Edition as a must have in our family of spirits.”

The Lakes Gin Explorer Edition will be available on pre-sale to The Lakes Distillery subscribers from mid-March and on sale from April 2017.
