The Rémy Cointreau Group has purchased Seattle-based Westland Distillery

Rémy Cointreau has acquired Westland’s assets as part of plans to expand its portfolio in the fast-growing single malt whisk(e)y category – a movement that the distillery is “at the vanguard of”.

Westland is “firmly committed to pushing the single malt whiskey category forward” – experimenting with new varietals of barley and oak and exploring concepts such as terroir.

Westland boasts three flagship malts: American Single Malt Whiskey, Peated American Single Malt Whiskey, and Sherry Wood American Single Malt Whiskey.
The transaction is expected to close before the end of the year.

The agreement follows the purchase of Domaine des Hautes Glaces in the French Alps last month.
