Tequila Herradura relaunches Port-finished reposado

Tequila Herradura has reintroduced its Port Cask Finished Reposado – a limited edition bottling from the Colección de la Casa range.

The double-maturation process is said to deliver a nose of dried fruit and ripe plum

Paying homage to the first of its series of small-batch Tequilas, Port Cask Finished Reposado Reserva 2016 is made from 100% blue agave, aged for 11 months in American oak casks, and then aged for two months in vintage Port casks from the Duoro Valley in Portugal.

Crafted by master distiller Maria Teresa Lara, the double-maturation process is said to “deliver a nose of dried fruit and ripe plum infused with hints of cinnamon, caramel and chocolate”.

“We are delighted to re-introduce Colección de la Casa, Reserva 2016 – Port Cask Finished Reposado to our loyal fans and Tequila enthusiasts in the US just in time for the holidays,” said Jennifer Simmonds, brand manager for Tequila Herradura.

“The fifth edition in Tequila Herradura’s small-batch Tequila series is a reminder of one of the brand’s most successful innovations, the first Colección de la Casa, Reserva 2012 – Port Cask Finished Reposado.

“This is a true exemplification of the brand’s pioneering and experimenting with small-batch concepts that complement our traditional production methods credited for crafting the finest Tequilas and surpassing industry standards with barrel aged expressions.”

Ruben Aceves, international director for brand development and Tequila Herradura’s master taster, said: “The 2012 expression was our first innovative barrel finish concept and one that resonated well with fans of Tequila Herradura.

“In many ways, the initial introduction of this expression was a milestone for the brand, consistent with our heritage as an industry innovator, introducing the first-ever reposado in 1974 and extra añejo tequila in 1995.”

Port Cask Finished Reposado is available in the US for a limited time at a RRP of US$89.99.
