Jameson launches The Cooper’s Croze in US
Pernod Ricard-owned Irish Distillers has launched its super-premium Irish whiskey Jameson The Cooper’s Croze in the US.
Jameson The Cooper Croze is the first of the Whisky Makers Series to launch in the US
Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is the first of super-premium Irish whisky range, the Whiskey Makers Series, to launch in the US. The series consists of three whiskeys, each highlighting a specific part of the whiskey-making process.
Curated by fifth generation head cooper Ger Buckley, Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is said to be designed to showcase the varying characteristics imparted by the barrels, as well as the important role played by the cooper in the whiskey making process.
Using virgin American oak, seasoned bourbon and Iberian sherry barrels, the non-chill filtered whiskey carries “rich fruit flavours” and a fine balance of “floral and spice notes”.
The whiskey’s namesake – the croze – is a tool used to make the groove where the head of the barrel is positioned in order to seal the barrel, symbolising the important role played by each barrel.
“I’ve created Jameson The Cooper’s Croze to show the versatility and profound influence barrels have on distinct whiskey flavours,” said Buckley. “Barrel making transcends generations, as I’ve used the same methods and tools passed down from my grandfather, that’s the beauty of the craft.”
Sona Bajaria, vice president, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Pernod Ricard USA, said: “Jameson The Cooper’s Croze embodies our unwavering dedication to upholding the craft and heritage passed down from generation to generation at the Midleton Distillery.
“This is an exciting time for Jameson Irish Whiskey, as we look to celebrate the man behind the barrel, with respect to his dedication and passion shown throughout his unique craft.”
Jameson The Cooper’s Croze will be available at participating retailers at a retail price of US$69.99.
