Sexy Fish launches Japanese whisky flights
The bar at Sexy Fish – Europe’s “largest” Japanese whisky collector – has introduced a range of flights allowing consumers to “immerse themselves” in the category.
Sexy Fish is offering guests flights of Japanese whisky on a bespoke Lazy Susan
Each of the four flights is served on a bespoke, dark wood Lazy Susan, designed with brass markers to identify each whisky and water in the middle.
For larger groups, or those ordering multiple flights, a double-layer Lazy Suzan is available.
The range features ‘First Sip’, designed as an introduction to Japanese whisky. The flight includes Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve, Hakushu Distiller’s Reserve, Nikka Coffey Grain and Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt, and is priced at £21.
The ‘Vertical Hibiki’ flight is said to represent “the harmony between Japanese nature and craftsmanship”. The flight includes Hibiki Japanese Harmony and Hibiki 21yo, with the flight available for £90.
‘While It Lasts’ features liquid from closed distilleries, and the flight features Hanyu The Joker Color Label, Kawasaki 1982 The Whisky Live Tokyo 29yo and Karuizawa 29yo #8897 Bourbon Cask. The flight is priced at £175.
Finally ‘4 Woods’ is billed as a “unique opportunity” to try a selection of Yamazaki whiskies from 2013 that are rarely available, including Yamazaki Mizunara 2013 and Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013. The flight is available for £220.
“It’s become a kind of addiction since I first discovered how unique and impressive Japanese whisky was,” said Xavier Landais, the Caprice group executive bars manager, who, along with Sexy Fish whisky expert Jérôme Allaguillemette, researched the whiskies to add to the collection.
“I realised that there were many people who shared this passion, and so our collection just grew and grew, and now we proud to own the largest in Europe.”
Located in London’s Mayfair, Sexy Fish currently offers 217 Japanese whisky expressions from 17 distilleries. The range can be served straight up, in cocktails, or in the flight formats.
