Tullamore Dew releases its oldest Irish whiskey

William Grant & Sons has launched its oldest Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey to date – a 15-year-old bottling described as the “pinnacle” of range.

Tullamore Dew Trilogy is a 15-year-old blend of some of the brand’s oldest malt and grain whiskies which have been aged in three different types of wood – ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry, and ex-rum casks.

The whiskey, which is also triple distilled and triple blended, marks the first time Tullamore Dew has used rum casks to finish ageing.

“Tullamore Dew Trilogy evokes the senses in a very distinct way,” said John Quinn, global brand ambassador for the brand. “On the nose, there’s a nutty oakiness interlaced with a hint of tropical fruit.

“Creamy and full-bodied, exciting the palate with elements of fruit, nuts and spice, Tullamore Dew Trilogy is finished in a rum cask to deliver a long, intensely rich and satisfying finish.”

Available from Dublin airport and select international retailers, Tullamore Dew Trilogy is bottled at 40% abv and carries an RRP of €65.00.

In September last year, Tullamore Dew opened its new Irish whiskey distillery, 60 years after the original site closed. The brand expanded its range in June 2015 with the launch of the “world’s first” Irish whiskey finished in cider casks.
