Johnnie Walker Houses open in Mumbai and Taiwan airports

Diageo is rolling its Johnnie Walker Houses out to travel retail for the first time with two new stores in India and Taiwan airports.

The new Johnnie Walker Houses in Mumbai and Taiwan airports are the first to enter travel retail

Both concept stores in Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport and Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport will be permanent fixtures.

The opening of the stores this month follows the gradual roll out of Johnnie Walker Houses in Shanghai, Beijing and Seoul domestic markets, which offer consumers the opportunity to fully explore the brand and even blend their own whisky.

To celebrate the launch of the houses, a limited edition bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label has been created: Johnnie Walker House Art Collection – which will be available exclusively at Mumbai International Airport.

The bottle itself shows a “unique interpretation” of the Scotch whisky brand’s first export to India in 1883.

Doug Bagley, managing director, Diageo Global Travel and Middle East, said: “This reinforces our long-term commitment to providing travellers with a luxurious, unparalleled shopping experience in one of the fastest-growing retail channels worldwide.

“Both airports are key travel hubs, handling a combined 63 million passengers a year which make them perfect locations for Johnnie Walker Houses within our burgeoning industry. We are confident that they will surprise and delight consumers with an unmatched retail space and deliver a luxurious shopping experience.”

The Mumbai store will be launched in collaboration with DFS Group and Flemingo International in Terminal 2.

The Taiwan store meanwhile will be located in the departures concourse at Terminal 2 of Taoyun International.

Visitors to any House will, from September, be able to purchase a copy of the Johnnie Walker House Edit, a quarterly luxury publication.
