Tia Maria launch competition with a twist
Tia Maria is launching an international online cocktail competition challenging bartenders to ‘Twist Your Espresso Martini’.
The rum-based coffee liqueur’s viral competition, aimed at the on-trade’s most creative bartenders, challenges entrants to “create a twist on the classic Tia Espresso Martini”.
The cocktail competition, open now to entries from the UK, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Finland and Argentina, will be judged by international mixology experts Simone Caporale and Alex Kratena.
Caporale, UK Tia Maria brand ambassador, and Kratena, head bartender at London’s Artesian Bar, will promote the cocktail competition with comical videos of themselves, as well as tutorial clips on bartending techniques which will be posted on the Tia Maria Facebook site.
The traditional method of crafting a Tia Espresso Martini is to combine Tia Maria, espresso coffee, vodka and sugar to taste, mix with ice in a boston shaker, before pouring into a Martini glass and garnishing with coffee beans.
Each entrant will automatically win a hand-crafted Japanese garnishing knife when they submit their recipe at the Tia Maria website.
After the competition closes on 31 May, three winners will be announced in first, second and third place. They will each receive gift vouchers for £1,000, £500 and £200 respectively to splash on specialist bartending equipment.
