Highland Park unveils The Warrior Series

Highland Park has unveiled a new range of six travel retail exclusive single malt whiskies, named The Warrior Series.

The range, which will be initially available in European travel retail, features a gradually increasing quantity of whisky aged in sherry-seasoned European oak casks.

The first three releases in the range, named Svein, Einar and Harald after legendary Vikings, deliver lighter vanilla and citrus fruit notes with further spice flavours becoming more prominent as the range progresses.

Their release this month will form the first phase of The Warrior Series launch, with the remaining three whiskies introduced to global travel retail over the summer.

All six whiskies are created to communicate the signature Highland Park taste, while tapping into the brand’s Norse heritage through the use of key characters from the Viking era.

Gerry Tosh, global marketing manager, said: “The Warrior Series is a natural progression for Highland Park, both in brand terms and in global travel retail. By continuing the celebration of our rich and distinctive Norse heritage we are able to tell stories which bring the brand and its products to life.

“To further this evolution, the whisky maker has crafted six individual whiskies which collectively offer drinkers a new style of taste journey, still classically Highland Park from start to finish, but giving them a different and holistic experience.”

Svein, the first whisky in the series named after the Viking chieftain central to the Orkneyinga Saga, is described as having a citrus and pineapple nose with hints of vanilla and crème brulee on the palate. It is available in a one-litre bottle for €40.

Einar, named after the joint Earl of Orkney in 1014, has a spicy, pineapple and dried fruit nose with a vanilla and citrus peel flavour. It is available for €53 for a one-litre bottle.

Finally Harald, named after Harald Fairhair, the King of Norway, has a further sherry cask influence with notes of ginger, nutmeg, spice and cake. It is available in a 70cl bottle for €75.
