Remy Cointreau has been eyeing up the Bruichladdich Distillery in Islay
In a statement today, the group has revealed its intention to buy the entire share capital of the distillery, giving it complete control over the production of Bruichladdich’s eponymous single malt whiskies and The Botanist Gin.
The group would not discuss the financials of the potential deal, but added that in the event of a takeover, “the signing of an agreement will remain subject to information and authorisation procedures in accordance with current regulations”.
In June the group said it intended to “remain true to its value strategy whilst considering potential growth opportunities” in the coming year.
