Glenfiddich hosts World’s highest whisky tasting

A selection of wounded servicemen and whisky aficionados will be testing the effects of altitude on their ability to taste, by holding the world’s highest whisky tasting from the Mount Everest Base Camp this week.

On 10 May the Walking with the Wounded Everest team, plus guest whisky expert Jamie Milne and Mark Thompson, director of Dramatic Whisky, will sample a selection of Glenfiddich single malt reserves 5,364m above sea level.

Nine wounded servicemen, as part of the Walking with the Wounded Everest 2012 team are aiming to raise £2m for charity by attempting to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, 8,848m above sea level.

The general public are invited to tune into telegraph.co.uk and absoluteradio.co.uk on the day to view a live stream of the tasting.

Unfortunately due to several avalanches in the area, the Walking with the Wounded trek to the summit of Mount Everest has been postponed. The scheduled whisky tasting will however go ahead on 10 May.
