Russian Standard Vodka makes debut in Iceland

Russian Standard Vodka has entered the Icelandic market for the first time after signing a distribution deal with Haugen-Gruppen.

Russian Standard Vodka will be distributed by Haugen-Gruppen in Iceland

The brand has passed its initial trial term in government-regulated stores in Iceland and has now qualified for guaranteed distribution in the country.

This year, Russian Standard will concentrate its efforts on “attacking” the Icelandic on-trade “full force”.

“The initial reaction of the market has been positive to say the least both on-trade and off-trade,” said Birkir Gudmundsson, managing director of Haugen-Gruppen, an importer of wines and spirits in the Nordic region.

“Having advanced from the trial section of the Icelandic Monopoly to the permanent portfolio in the least possible time is not only amazing but another proof of the quality of Russian Standard Vodka.”

In October 2015 William Grant & Sons assumed UK distribution of Russian Standard, uniting Roust’s portfolio in the market.

Owned by Roust, Russian Standard is one of the world’s best-selling vodka brands, with global sales of 3.2m nine-litre cases in the 2015 calendar year (Brand Champions data).
