‘Punch on the Road’ tours Scandinavia

The London Edition’s Punch Room has taken its quirky afternoon tea concept to three of Scandinavia’s most famous bars this week as part of its Punch On The Road series.

London-based bar Punch Room has taken its quirky afternoon tea concept to Scandinavia

Bar manager Davide Segat and head of bar operations Andy Shannon took ‘Scandal Water: A History of Punch’ to Copenhagen’s Bronnum, Stockholm’s Little Quarter and Oslo’s The Thief, in collaboration with Woodford Reserve.

‘Scandal water’ was 19th Century slang for ‘tea’ – and enjoying afternoon tea became fashionable with the upper echelons of London society, who enjoyed hours of salacious gossip during the otherwise-empty hours of the afternoon.

In celebration of this tradition, Henrietta Lovell, founder of the acclaimed Rare Tea Company, and Phil Carmichael, executive chef at Berners Tavern, created five tea and food pairings that are complimented by a custom punch by the team at Punch Room.

Nidal Ramini from Woodford Reserve said: “Once again we are delighted to be working with Davide, Andy and the Punch Room team.

“After our initial kick off in the US last year, including hosing an event in Woodford’s home state of Kentucky, we’re delighted to be showcasing these incredible Woodford Reserve Punches to the best bartenders in Scandinavia.”

The London Edition’s Punch Room will continue its journey on the road later this year in New York, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Louisville, Mexico and Miami.
