The Bissell Maple Farm has unveiled the Pappy & Company Bourbon Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup

Made by ageing Bissell’s Sugarmaker’s Reserve premium syrup in rare 23-year-old Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels for 100 days, the new gourmet product will be available for the first time at the Summer Fancy Foods Show from 28-30 June in New York’s Jacob Javits Center.

A limited number of Pappy & Company Bourbon Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup bottles will be made available from the Pappy Van Winkle website from the end of June.

“We only work with other companies who share our same vision and commitment to quality over quantity,” said Carrie Van Winkle Greener, fourth generation Van Winkle. “So working with Nate Bissell and Bissell Maple Farm came naturally.”

Louise Van Winkle Breen added: “There are other barrel-aged syrups out there, but to know the story behind this syrup, it being the best quality possible combined with the most iconic Bourbon brand of our time, we know we have something rare and very special to offer.”

The Pappy & Company Bourbon Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup is said to have a smoky, smooth finish perfect for using on ice cream, cooking with pork, glazing strawberries and as a topping on pancakes and waffles.

“You might think you know these flavours – the Bourbon, the maple,” commented Nate Bissell, co-owner Bissell Maple Farm. “They’re really ‘of the moment’ right now with kitchens and chefs, but you can’t really know the richness and depth of flavour until you’ve tasted our Sugarmaker’s Reserve syrup that’s been aged in a 23-year-old barrel from the most exclusive Bourbon available.”
